I'm a Summer person

"It's freezing here", I said to my dad while hugging him. "You won't survive the first winter" he said, "You're a summer person".

This was at the airport in Israel BEFORE we even got on the plane to Toronto. I've never been to Canada so you can only imagine how happy my dad was knowing how cold Canada is. He probably thought I'll be back in Israel before he can say Jack Robinson.

I'm a summer person. I've always been and always will be. Now that I come to think about it, I'm actually a pumpkin spice iced latte.

I like the heat, I enjoy the outdoors and more then everything, I like how simple it is to leave the house in the summer. No check list of coat, mitts, scarf, earmuffs, snow boots, Kleenex in the pockets, hot coffee in one hand, phone in the other. Sounds like fun, I know. And I haven't even left the house yet!

The first winter in Toronto was fun though. It was the month before Christmas and we were tourists in our own city. Everything was white and snowy and full of lights and Santas and hot chocolate. We didn't need to leave the house to go to work or run errands. It was just us and the beautiful Canadian winter.

And then we found jobs.

The one question I get the most is "How do you handle the cold"? Well, I don't.

I have the best time between June and September, squeeze every bit of warmth in October, live in denial during November and then dress up warm between December and May, hoping it will end faster this year. These are my 4 seasons.

Jokes aside, winter can be fun if you choose to embrace it. I might not ski but I LOVE Christmas markets, the feeling of snowflakes on your face, I love winter getaways, and more than everything, I love wearing my winter coat to go the store while hiding my PJs underneath, because let's face it, no one cares what you look like in the winter. They all just wanna get home.
